Recommendations for election programmes to benefit global health

Health is everyone’s most important asset. The government and parliament must protect and promote this fundamental need. Both in the Netherlands and worldwide. Wemos calls on political parties to include effective policy solutions for this in their programmes for the upcoming national elections in the Netherlands.

We propose text suggestions for better access to medicines, availability of sufficient health personnel, prevention of pandemics and protection of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Pandemic agreement negotiations reveal key divides and finance gap

Member states of the World Health Organization gathered in Geneva from 4 – 15 November for the 12th round of negotiations on a pandemic agreement. Progress is slow, stumbling blocks including access to medical countermeasures, sharing of knowledge and technology and investments in prevention and surveillance of disease outbreaks. Moreover, there is not enough attention for the need for equitable finance. Read more
