Today our global health advocate Aliénor Devaliere spoke at the German national parliament’s (Deutscher Bundestag – Verwaltung) subcommittee on Global Health. Wemos, along with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), was invited to discuss vaccine manufacturing and Gavi’s new financial instrument, the African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator (AVMA).
In her statement, Aliénor highlighted that investments should have conditions ensuring that efforts towards regional vaccine production support local, regional and continental health needs and priorities. This is crucial to improving access to vaccines in Africa, by African manufacturers, for African populations.
