Member states of the World Health Organization gathered in Geneva from 4 – 15 November for the 12th round of negotiations on a pandemic agreement. Progress is slow, stumbling blocks including access to medical countermeasures, sharing of knowledge and technology and investments in prevention and surveillance of disease outbreaks. Government drastically cuts funding for civil society organizations

Today, Minister Klever of Foreign Trade & Development Aid informed parliament in a letter that she plans to cut more than 70% of funding for civil society organizations in the Netherlands and low- and middle-income countries. We urge the House of Representatives to oppose this decision. Read more

Wemos statement on financing in the draft pandemic agreement for INB12

Wemos is participating in the 12th Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) session, where WHO member states are drafting and negotiating a pandemic agreement. We have been selected to deliver a public statement, in which we urge governments to include binding commitments for sustainable, fair and additional financing, to ensure that all countries can equally invest in pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
