The future of global health financing: takeaways from the World Health Assembly side-event

On 19 May, Wemos moderated the side-event 'The Future of Global Health Financing', hosted by the governments of the Netherlands and Indonesia, at the World Health Assembly. Policymakers, experts and stakeholders explored best practices in health financing, assessed the roles of national, regional, and global actors, and highlighted actionable solutions for sustainable health systems. Leveraging the Global Financing Facility to drive equitable impact on health systems

During the Civil Society Policy Forum of the IMF and the World Bank Group Spring Meetings in April, we co-organized a session titled ‘Unlocking country-led health financing: Leveraging the Global Financing Facility to drive equitable impact’. It brought together governments, civil society, youth, and the GFF Secretariat to explore actionable solutions for a world where no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare. Read more

Inequalities in budget allocation for social sectors in Mozambique

With our partner N’weti, we work to strengthen health financing in Mozambique. N’weti leads the analysis of the country’s situation, with our support as needed, while together we focus on how global policies and actors influence the financing of Mozambique’s health system. Recently, N’weti published a policy note examining inequalities in the allocation of public resources to social sectors, with a particular emphasis on health, that also provides recommendations for improvements. End-term evaluation shows high impact of the Make Way programme

The Make Way programme, aimed at breaking down barriers to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for marginalized groups in societies, ended in December 2025. The end-term evaluation of the programme shows that Make Way successfully influenced national, regional, and global policies, strengthened the advocacy capacity of civil society organizations and young people. We share the main findings, learnings and recommendations. Read more

Farewell event director Mariëlle Bemelmans

After nine inspiring years of leadership, our director, Mariëlle Bemelmans is moving on to something new. We held a lovely goodbye event at our office, where we warmly received partners from civil society organizations, universities, the ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs, and family.
