In an open letter, endorsed by over 50 civil society organizations, Wemos calls on the Global Financing Facility (GFF) to address four priority areas to improve women’s, adolescents’ and children’s health and lives. The letter was sent in anticipation of the replenishment event of the GFF, which takes place on November 6th in Oslo, Norway.
With the replenishment, the GFF – the financing model for the Every Woman, Every Child Global Strategy – is planning to almost double the number of countries it supports (from the current 27 to 50). Informed by our work and experience across GFF-partner countries, Wemos takes this moment to raise some important points to improve the GFF to advance the health and lives of millions of women, adolescents and children. For example, we call on the GFF to increase and improve engagement with civil society at all levels, address health workforce shortage crisis, and reduce financial barriers to accessing health care.
